2025

2025-06-26

Finally bit the bullet and published the site redesign online! I’m taking the opportunity to upgrade back to supporter status and link in the custom domain name. I love neocities!!!

2025-06-25

Added back a links page at Exits Are and made updates to:

2025-06-22

Deciding not to worry about porting across the image pages for the time being. They were generally pretty sparse and the scans were not good quality. I’d love to set up some image galleries on this website - one day.

2025-06-21

A few days break. Dredging up and editing Lake Things

2025-06-18

Dredging up and editing Two Parties

I may still make the old Remnant House ezines some of these pieces appeared in available.

2025-06-17

Dredging up and editing Rosen Room

2025-06-16

Rounding up on a few last Muse Ariadne pages:

Also pulling apart some deep-buried bits and pieces:

2025-06-15

I made about me and site information pages!

Also an update to Brief Encounters

2025-06-14

Some changes to the site css, plus more updates:

I’ve somehow mistitled The Ballerina and the Bull as The Bull and the Ballerina across two years’ worth of personal wiki entries and webpages. Fixed now and it will be as though there was never a fuckup in the first place.

2025-06-13

Lots of updates this time!

I’ve been going back and forth on whether it is better to have discrete pages for every book and game, or whether it’s better to try organise them thematically. A lot of the review pages were just short summaries, particularly for the essays. My strategy right now is to still keep things relatively separate but to organise the short essay summaries into one page, as well as instances where there is a clear topic like the Xenofeminism stuff.

Some updates to:

2025-06-09

A few days’ break, but returning with updates to:

2025-06-05

Largely a lot of stylistic changes, shifting the website into dark mode and making the backlinks and tags look prettier.

2025-06-04

Sleepy updates to:

2025-06-03

More minor updates to:

2025-06-02

More minor updates to:

As part of my commitment to fucking around with the website this month, I’ve made a Slipbox page, which is intended as a place to post, more or less randomly, things from my handwritten zettelkasten. I can immediately see it turning into a mess.

Finally, updating reference information at the bottom of the page for Telecom

2025-06-01

More resurrections, more updates! This time pulling apart the old Remnant House digital zines to have the essays as standalone pieces:

And also:

2025-05-28

Couple more resurrections and updates to:

Games and stories featuring telecommunications towers seem to appear in my backlog at a regular frequency. I should find other things to write about.

2025-05-27

Continuing to pull across and make minor updates to:

2025-05-26

Starting a big site redesign. I’m excited to see where it leads over the next month!

2025-02-09

I’m gtfo the internet for a little while, so this site is in hibernation, like a fat little marmot. Stay safe out there everyone!

2024

2024-12-26

Spending some very lazy days hiding from the heat and tidying up a few more things. In the reading list, Tove Jannson’s Notes from an Island which may be my favourite book this year.

In the writing pit, an Interlude on Salvage, on ex-library books and my knitted, stuffed cats and where they’ll all end up. Aalso down in there, Powerline Walking, descriptions of transmission lines and the things growing beneath them.

By my reckoning it is properly summer now, so all the old spring updates have been swept into the archive. Things I would like to do in the new year. A blog. Add things more consistently to the reading list. Keep up with the Muse Ariadne prompts. Create shrines and digital kiosks for things Ii really, really love. Finish some long essays and stories.

2024-12-12

I’ve been up to a lot… just not online lately. Lots of things to clean up and post, but for now two Muse Ariadne prompt fills. one on Rituals for a prompt from early september and one for a prompt to Look Around Your Room from late november.

More, more written, more to come, but I tend to gallop away with prompt fills for Muse Ariadne and end up with tangled, sprawling things that are half fiction and half essay. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make actually posting them a slow process.

In the new year I wouldn’t mind trying something a little more immediate. Like writing directly into html.

2024-11-11

I’m finally getting around to photographing my drawings, sketches and watercolours. At least some of them. Updates to The Final Outpost [deleted], and a new page for my copies of old ornithological and scientific illustrations at zoological studies [deleted].

2024-11-02

Semester is over, so no better time to start goofing around with my site’s design. This line out of Hypertext Gardens by Mark Bernstein has got stuck in my head:

The structural rigidity that makes navigation simple and ubiquitous, though it gives a hypertext the appearance of efficiency, can make that hypertext seem sterile, inert and distant. We may find excitement in individual pages, but the hypertextual whole seems a mere shell enclosing variously interesting bits.

The way my site is set up, it is hard to abandon navigation completely. And also I don’t want to do that. but it would be nice if the design were a little less generic. My plan is to play around with this, try give different areas a more unique ambiance.

2024-10-08

And another Muse Ariadne entry on A Space Never Inhabited. written from a third person perspective for a change, and because It’s a little more freeing too. For some reason I keep going back to flooded landscapes and disappearances. Maybe it’s repetitive, but it’s all I want to write about.

2024-10-06

Added a Muse Ariadne entry on A Few Specific Images, actually just one thing that I drew on a walk this weekend. I have a whole backlog of pencil drawings. some already photographed and hiding in a backup folder somewhere. If I have time, they’re something I’d like to add to my site.

2024-09-22

More writing!

Another Muse Ariadne entry about Ssomething Monstrous which started out as some not very original monster reflections I tried to wrap into a little vignette.

Plus, a short entry about Lake Things

2024-09-11

Filled in another entry for muse ariadne, this time for an august prompt about A Place You Love

I’ve also started adding buttons into my weblinks [deleted]

2024-09-05

Filled in more entries for the Dream Diary and Muse Ariadne pages. (I should really actually join the Muse Ariadne writing club.)

2024-08-24

Spring approaches! New colour scheme!

Added a page for another bitsy game called K.W. Exhibit

Added a Dream Diary, and a Muse Ariadne nook, to my writing page, and one or two things in each. I want to put more fiction on this site, but the thought of people reading my fiction terrifies the stuffing out of me. Even though I’m literally anonymous! Small steps. I’ll add to these pages, and put more things up when I find time.

Added a section for The Final Outpost [deleted] to my images page. Right now there is only text in it, but as soon as I figure out how to take decent images of my hand painted fanart, It will go in here too! I love The Final Outpost!

I really need to update this website more. I write and draw a lot, but mostly it all sits in sketchbooks or my zettelkasten! Termite food. Hopefully more updates to come, and sooner, university and employment allowing.

2024-08-02

A new, very brief game called Convalescent Days, inspired by the past week I’ve spent in my apartment feeling like shit.

2024-07-30

Updated my games page and the page for Summer Ruins now that I’ve finished it! Hoping, now I have a tileset, I can use it to make lots of weird little games.

2024-06-05

Something I’ve wanted to do for a little while: convert all the entries in my reading list into separate, dated pages. This is a little silly for some of the more stubby ones, but it makes the main page easier to navigate and lets me add dates and interlinks between the things I read.

2024-05-20

More entries into the reading list (A Brief History and Ethos of the Digital Garden by Maggie Appleton, and Toxic Sexes by Malin Ah-King and Eva Hayward). I might need to come up with a better way of organising all these entries that isn’t simply listing them all on one page.

I’m trying to post more of my writing online, so I added two things On Celeste and On Pokemon Crystal to the writing page. I sound like a broken record, but I want to come up with a better way of organising this stuff, something that’s more associative and digital-gardeny, and that presents itself less like a list of articles or blogposts. None of what I write is really cohesive enough to pretend to be a proper essay. Oh well!

2024-05-18

Added some entries to the reading list (Xenofeminism by Helen Hester), plus a new page in the games list for a bitsy tileset I’m working on called Summer Ruins. More updates to come, I imagine. Not sure how I’ll keep this section from becoming unmanageably long, but oh well that’s not a problem just yet!

2024-04-27

Adding some entries to the games page. For some I’m just stealing my own Itch.io blurbs, but my long term goal is to try add reflections about them, about the development process, that sort of stuff.

2024-04-26

Semester almost over, so making updates again! Added some entries to the reading list and my weblinks [deleted]. Also removed the guestbook page for now, since I think the discord robot was malfunctioning and I can’t think of an alternative other than email. Lots of behind the scenes stuff to try make the website easier to edit, but that doesn’t really translate into anything interesting up here on the surface, sorry!

2024-02-22

Been a while, but added a few new things to the reading list, Empire of Normality by Robert Chapman, The Bull and the Ballerina by Johanna Isaacson, and The Great Psychic Outdoors by Enrico Monacelli, plus a couple essays. I’m trying to write summaries or notes on everything I’m reading this year, so it doesn’t all just disappear down the memory hole after I finish it.

2024-01-31

Lots of minor repairs, which haven’t warranted an update on their own. But i’ve added two pages to my images section, for my map tiles [deleted] and tarot-cards [deleted]. Makes me want to draw more.

2024-01-28

Uploaded the spring Remnant House [deleted], plus, finally taught myself how to use html templates with pandoc and decided to totally refresh the website! Still a work in progress but the spooky skeleton is there.
